

So occupation as an end not only describes the long term outcomes that we set and discuss with our clients, but it’s main implication is to help people to become “occupational beings” again. The phrase occupation as an end describes the underlying assumption in our profession, that people are much more healthier and happier when they can be active in their life roles.


The reality is that if we don’t have occupation at the forefront of what we do, then we probably are missing the opportunity to really help someone change their life. The terms occupation as a means and an end helps to describe how we implement occupations into our daily practice. Occupation should be at the core of everything we do.
